What is intravenous therapy? (IV Therapy)

This method involves injecting electrolytes, vitamins, and minerals directly into your bloodstream, bypassing your digestive system. Traditionally, we provide our bodies with vitamins and other nutrients through our diet. Before benefiting from these nutrients, the digestive system must break down and absorb each ingested food through the digestive wall. This process can take hours, and the amount of vitamins and other micronutrients that can pass through the digestive barrier is not always sufficient to meet our energy and nutritional needs (40–50% absorption depending on the food).

With intravenous therapy, these vitamins are delivered directly into your bloodstream without passing through the digestive system (100% absorption). This is therefore the fastest and most effective way for your body to absorb nutrients.

YuBoost is the first vitamin IV therapy service in Switzerland to offer this treatment directly in the comfort of your home, workplace, or hotel room, helping you regain health and vitality as quickly and comfortably as possible.

What exactly is included in an intravenous vitamin therapy?

Our infusions are enriched with vitamins: B-complex vitamins, vitamin B12, vitamin C; antioxidant: glutathione; and minerals: magnesium and zinc, all known as key contributors to promoting health and well-being. We offer different formulations, each designed to support a specific health goal.

Are IV drips effective?

One of the main advantages of vitamin infusions is achieving fast and effective results without gastrointestinal side effects. Intravenous therapy allows vitamins and nutrients to enter directly into the bloodstream without passing through the digestive system, ensuring 100% absorption.

You will start to feel the first effects during the infusion: a sense of relaxation and renewed energy.

However, remember that nothing replaces a balanced diet, regular physical activity, and quality sleep to maintain long-term health and well-being.

Are YuBoost vitamin injections safe?

All our formulations have been developed by certified Swiss doctors and pharmacists who use high-quality vitamins and other nutrients.

Our treatments are administered by qualified medical staff following a brief medical consultation to review each patient’s medical history.

It is important to note that all vitamin infusions carry some risk. Therefore, patients should fully understand the risks, benefits, and alternatives, and only receive vitamin infusions from our certified medical professionals.

How much does IV Therapy cost?

The price of our IV therapy sessions ranges from 280 CHF to 500 CHF. This amount covers the initial medical consultation, the administration of the infusion, the supply of vitamins tailored to your needs, and the professional services of our nurse on the day of the session. Travel costs for the nurse are additional. To personalize your experience, various add-on options are available. Additionally, we offer value packages for full treatment plans of 4, 6, or 12 IV sessions, with discounts of up to 30%.

Where can YuBoost therapies be received?

YuBoost offers its services throughout Switzerland, with central starting points in the cities of Geneva, Lausanne, Zurich, Bern, and Basel.

Are vitamin infusions naturally colored or do they contain artificial dyes?

Vitamin infusions can sometimes appear pink, yellow, or orange depending on the vitamins they contain. For example, vitamin B12 gives a pinkish color, while B-complex vitamins appear yellow.

What is the training of the people administering these infusions?

In Switzerland, vitamin infusions are considered a medical procedure. This means that for each infusion, a doctor will review your medical history, treatments, and allergies, and then prescribe or approve the infusion based on your needs and personal information. A qualified nurse, who has completed postgraduate training specific to these infusions, will then administer the injection according to the doctor’s prescription.

What is the training of the doctors who prescribe vitamin infusions?

All YuBoost doctors hold a Swiss FMH certification, meaning they are recognized specialists with the right to practice medicine in Switzerland. These doctors have further specialized in functional medicine and micronutrition. To ensure you receive the best of tomorrow’s medicine, they continue their education and participate in conferences on functional medicine and longevity medicine.

More generally, in Switzerland, vitamin infusions must be performed by certified and qualified healthcare professionals.

Are vitamin infusions legal in Switzerland? Are they covered by basic insurance?

In Switzerland, vitamin infusions are not only legal but are commonly practiced in hospitals to help patients recover more quickly after an illness, surgery, or chemotherapy. They are also used in family doctor offices to treat significant vitamin deficiencies or in patients with intestinal malabsorption disorders. In these contexts, vitamin infusions are covered by basic health insurance. However, infusions given for preventive purposes or to promote rapid recovery after food poisoning, alcohol intake, or infections such as the flu—as provided by YuBoost—are not covered by basic insurance. Our service is a private medical service and is not reimbursable by insurance.

What studies prove the effectiveness of vitamin injections?

Numerous studies have highlighted the importance of vitamins for health. One of the most comprehensive studies on the beneficial role of vitamin infusions in patients suffering from fatigue was published in Nutrients in 2023.

Is there a health risk if I take too many vitamins?

Yes, just as a vitamin deficiency can cause symptoms such as fatigue, hair loss, or depression, an overdose of vitamins can also lead to other issues like stomach pain, diarrhea, or kidney stones.

More recently, two studies have even highlighted an increased risk of certain cancers, such as lung cancer and melanoma, linked to chronic vitamin overdose in individuals with specific genetic mutations.

That’s why, whether you take vitamins as dietary supplements or via infusion, it is very important to follow the usage instructions and your doctor’s recommendations. At YuBoost, a vitamin assessment is systematically offered to anyone who wants to know their profile. This assessment is highly recommended for anyone requiring long-term vitamin supplementation.

Is a blood test necessary before a vitamin infusion?

We recommend that all our patients undergo a blood test to easily check blood count, kidney and liver function, as well as vitamin and mineral levels. We can also perform additional tests to assess excess heavy metals and NAD+ levels.
