What are the benefits of vitamin B12?

Unlike other B group vitamins, vitamin B12 isn’t synthesized by plants and is mainly found in products of animal origin, such as meat, fish, shellfish, eggs and dairy products. Vegetarians and vegans often experience a deficiency of this vitamin; they can offset any risk of deficiency by including vitamin B12-enriched foods in their diet (soy- and rice-based drinks, for example). An intake of 2.4 micrograms of vitamin B12 a day for women and men is generally recommended, although requirements may vary from one person to another. If ever you have a deficiency, it may be advisable to opt for a vitamin B12 supplement, through IV therapy for example. Here, at YuBoost, we propose several types of vitamin infusion. The injection is given directly into the bloodstream, without travelling through the digestive wall and the body assimilates the vitamin almost immediately. You’ll feel the first benefits instantly at the end of the infusion, which last between 45 and 60 minutes.

Nervous, brain and cell system functioning

Vitamin B12 plays a vital role in maintaining a healthy nervous system health and psychological functions. It acts on myelin sheath (the nerve envelope that surrounds neurons) and, as such, ensures neurons and brain activity function properly. It’s also involved in the formation of red blood cells in the blood, known as haematopoiesis. As such, it’s recognized for its anti-anaemic role; anaemia is characterized by insufficient haemoglobin in the red blood cells. In pregnancy, vitamin B12 also helps the foetus’ nervous system develop. When taken together with vitamins B6 and B9, vitamin B12 also helps prevent cardiovascular diseases.

If you have a deficiency, you may become anaemic: warning signs include chronic fatigue, muscle weakness and/or dizziness. Neurological symptoms such as tingling, and psychological ones (mood disorders, such as irritability) may also be linked to vitamin B12 deficiency

Reduces fatigue, increases energy, boosts the immune system

Vitamin B12 helps tackle fatigue and exhaustion; it also ensures your energy metabolism’s balanced. When a patient has a vitamin infusion, they frequently feel a boost in energy immediately after the injection.  This is mainly explained by the correlation between vitamin B12 and cell renewal. As we already mentioned, this vitamin plays an active role in the formation of red blood cells, which are closely related to your body’s energy levels. Vitamin B12 also helps boost immunity defences, a function that’s extremely essential during periods of heightened vulnerability such as when seasons change.

Healthy skin

Vitamin B12 (along with biotin) helps ensure your skin, hair and nails remain healthy. It prevents discomfort such as redness, dry skin and brittle nails, as well as the formation of dark spots, as it helps regulate the skin’s pigment production. It has a detoxifying and firming action on the epidermis, the top layer of the skin. So, you may see improvement in the quality of your skin just a few days after you’ve had your YuBoost IV therapy.
